Part of the Internet is losing its mind over a rumour that the release of Final Fantasy XV has been pushed back a couple of months – from September 30 to November 29.

The source of the rumour is Gamnesia's Ben Lamoreux, who claims a previously-reliable GameStop manager told him the game was delayed, then gave him a copy of instructions on how to alter the release date on in-store promo materials for the game – instructions allegedly distributed by Square Enix.

The instructions look like they could have been whipped up in 10 minutes in Photoshop, but Kotaku and Gematsu are reporting that their own sources confirmed the rumour, and interestingly, today's Final Fantasy XV trailer doesn't feature a release date at the end like its predecessor's do. Hmmm.

On the "lies!" side of the equation, there's this dude on Reddit who claims that he works at GameStop and says he hasn't heard a thing, but many stores are yet to be informed according to Kotaku.

Whatever the case, the game has been 10 years in the making, so waiting another couple of months doesn't feel too bad. And of course, it's available for pre-order now at Mighty Ape.
