A lengthy document allegedly regarding the next-gen Kinect controller has been published over at VGLeaks.
As has been rumoured before, the document states that the new version of Kinect will ship with all Durango consoles.
It also claims that the Kinect 2.0 improves on existing hardware in several areas, boasting a much higher camera quality and resolution (1920 x 1080 x 16 bpp 16:9 YUY2 @ 30 fps), better detection of small objects, higher depth stream accuracy, lower latency, and an active infrared stream that permits excellent performance regardless of lighting levels.
"For example, shadows, pixel intensities, and noise characteristics are the same for a well-lit room, the same as for no light in the room,” the leak states.
“As a result, this stream could be used for feature detection in situations where a colour stream would be useless."
The leak also states that the new Kinect will not feature a tilt motor as its field of view has been increased to 70 degrees vertically from 43 degrees on standard Kinect.
This allows the sensor to capture a much larger area than the current Kinect cameras.
Apparently Kinect 2.0 will be capable of hand state detection (open or closed), as well as extra joints, and even rotations for some joints.
It will track up to six rather than two active players, be able to follow occluded joints, and also detect sideways poses.
