Resident Evil 6 features on-disc DLC, a modder has discovered.

Modder and YouTube user FluffyQuack has posted a video that shows a new No Hope difficulty is locked on the game disc. According to the video description, other locked files on the disc refer to map packs, multiplayer game modes, and co-op for the Ada Wong campaign.

A Capcom spokesperson told Eurogamer that one piece of Resident Evil 6 DLC required both downloaded data and on-disc data to work, but didn’t specify what that DLC was.

"We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months and while virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc," the spokesperson said.

Earlier this year Capcom claimed it would look into ditching on-disc DLC after gamers reacted with anger when on-disc DLC was found on Street Fight X Tekken game discs.

At that time, Capcom briefly defended the practice calling it "more flexible and efficient", before agreeing to consider discontinuing it.

“We would like to assure you that we have been listening to your comments and as such have begun the process of re-evaluating how such additional game content is delivered in the future,” it said.
