Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will support ranked dedicated servers on PC, Treyarch director of technology Cesar Stastny has confirmed.

The franchise has been inconsistent with this feature up to this point.

Infinity Ward dropped dedicated server support in 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, then Treyarch brought it back the next year in the first Black Ops.

Infinity Ward did support dedicated servers in last year's Modern Warfare 3, but they were unranked, so players couldn't level up or unlock weapons while playing on them.

Black Ops 2 is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 23. A Wii U version is rumoured though unconfirmed.
