Rumours of an upcoming PlayStation 4 Slim fast became confirmed today through two independent sources.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Sony intends to release "a new PlayStation 4 standard model" alongside the higher-end PS4 Neo, in an attempt to maintain demand.

According to the Journal, the Slim model would retail at a lower price than current PS4 models, targeted at more casual users, while the Neo would aim for hardcore players.

Additionally, Eurogamer's Richard Leadbetter visited the winner of yesterday's PS4 Slim auction, confirming its authenticity and taking the above photo.

A YouTube video showed the console booting up, but has since been removed.

Sony is expected confirm the PS4 Slim and reveal the PS4 Neo at its media event on September 7th.

A new video has surfaced by tech blogger ZRZ that claims a new DualShock 4 controller is coming with the PS4 Slim console.

The most notable difference in this (potentially) new controller is the light-up slit in the touch pad, to coincide with the light bar on the front of the DualShock 4.

Visible changes can also be seen on the triggers and thumbsticks, which have changed from black to grey.

The new controller model was confirmed by Shortman82, who originally leaked the PS4 Slim console. He wasn't sure if it was an additional light, stating it could be "just a slim see through part on the touch pad which lets light through".
