Daymeeuhn, the Redditor who spent $1300-plus to get No Man's Sky early, says he beat the game in about 30 hours.
The playthrough was not merely an attempt to finish the game as quickly as possible, either.
"I have done A LOT of what the game has to offer," posted Daymeeuhn; "I actually intentionally took time out of my warp jumping over the course of going to the middle to explore planets to break up the monotony of it."
"This does not mean I have done all of the major events, however."
The current controversy amongst fans stems from the ready availability of a resource - which Daymeeuhn suggests should be nerfed - that can accelerate progress towards the centre of the galaxy, the game's ostensible end point.
"The pacing was going okay until I ran in to these and then it just skewed everything for me," wrote Daymeeuhn.
Developer Hello Games had previously been quoted as saying a journey to the centre of the procedurally-generated galaxy could take hundreds of hours.
No Man's Sky launches on August 10th on PlayStation 4 and August 12th on PC.
