Bloodborne’s first and only expansion, The Old Hunters, is out tomorrow, but accessing its content isn’t as simple as clicking on a menu or stepping into a portal.

Rather, as detailed on PlayStation Blog with screenshots, eager hunters must:

1) Defeat the boss in Cathedral Ward, then examine the altar in the back of the room to change the in-game time to night
2) Go to the Hunter’s Dream and receive the Eye of a Blood-Drunk Hunter from a messenger
3) Go to the Oedon Chapel and leave via the left-hand exit to enter the square.
4) Go to the right-hand end of the square to trigger an event. This event will take you to the new area: the Hunter’s Nightmare. Lighting the lamp in the new area will allow you to travel to and from the area via an Awakening Headstone in the Hunter’s Dream.
Bloodborne's Old Hunters DLC ain't easy to access

The Old Hunters offers around eight hours of new adventures in Yharnam, and adds new enemies, abilities, armour, weapons, and NPCs to the game.

Notable are the Bloodletter, a weapon that you power up by stabbing yourself in the chest with it, and the Gatling Gun, a portable version of the stationary rapid-fire gun from the tower in Old Yharnam.

The expansion is only available once Bloodborne’s latest 9GB patch has been installed.

According to Sony, that patch (title update 1.07) drastically changes the online component of the game, adding a League feature with a leaderboard, extra NPCs you can summon, and more.
