Player anger over lost progress in NBA 2K14 has seen developer 2K re-open the game’s servers.
Some players lost saved games when the game’s servers were shut down last week, despite 2K’s assurances that all saves would be transferred to the game’s offline modes.
Now, following an outcry, 2K has pledged to support online play in each of its NBA 2K games for 27 months rather than the traditional 18.
The company provided the following statement to Polygon:
2K has restored the NBA 2K14 servers and all online services. Beginning today, we are extending the support of all NBA 2K servers from 18 to 27 months following each release, giving our players more time to experience and enjoy the highest rated NBA simulation video game franchise. The opinions of our community continue to have a positive impact on our business decisions as we strive to create the best possible experience for all of our fans.
When the servers for NBA 2K14 went offline on March 31, they had only been active for 16 months. In contrast, servers for EA Sports' Madden NFL 12 and FIFA 12 remain active, four years after the release of each.
