The upcoming movie based on The Last of Us will re-tell the game's plot, says Neil Druckmann.
Rather than tell a new story in the same universe, the creative director will turn the game's script into a screenplay.
Speaking with IGN on the red carpet at the BAFTA Game Awards, Druckmann said, “It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us. As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”
Sam Raimi and Ghost House Pictures will produce the film along with Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra, and game director Bruce Straley.
The Last of Us cleaned up at the BAFTAs, claiming four golden masks, including the one for Game of the Year.
