Title Update 1.7 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim finally gives PlayStation 3 owners a chance to try mounted combat.

The update, which fixes a number of animation bugs and crashes, also adds "general memory and stability optimizations", according to Bethesda.

Those with the game on PlayStation 3 will finally see mounted combat, which other platforms have had since Update 1.6 – an update never released on Sony’s console.

Update 1.7 also promises to tighten up Kinect functionality on the Xbox 360, giving improved voice recognition, as well as adding support for French, Spanish, German, and Italian.

The update is now available as a beta on Steam. A date for consoles release is yet to be announced.
