Gwent, favourite card game of The Witcher protagonist Geralt, looks set to become its own spin-off digital title.

Developer CD Projekt Red has filed a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (spotted by Nerdleaks) for Gwent under video game and software categories.

The trademark filing also includes a logo:

The Witcher's Gwent to become standalone card game

Gwent would join an expanding roster of high-profile digital card games spun off from popular fantasy franchises, including Elder Scrolls: Legends, Fable Fortune, and the indomitable Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

CD Projekt Red has previously stated that its E3 slate will include "a new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio," which may suggest Gwent is just around the corner.

Until then, Gwent can be played inside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
