Obsidian Entertainment has revealed a significant feature boost that will come with Pillars of Eternity's 3.0 update.

In addition to new stories and quests, a new difficulty level called Story Time, aimed at players only interested in the game's narrative, will lower the difficulty of combat and reduce the need to specialise squad members.

For more hardcore players, a new difficulty feature called Knockout Injuries will impair characters who have been knocked down until their next rest, while the game's third act will be made more difficult, with fewer "trash mobs."

Athletics and Survival skills now give access to abilities like mid-encounter healing and wilderness resting bonuses, respectively.

Finally, the in-game Bestiary and Action Bar have also been updated and re-organised.

The update will launch for all players alongside the second part of the White March expansion on February 16th.
