The Chiefs were crowned the first-ever League of Legends Oceania Players League champions.

The Chiefs dispatched the Dire Wolves 3-0 in the best-of-five series to claim the AU$16,000 prize pool.

The team will now go on to represent Oceania in the International Wild Card Invitational in Turkey from April 21-25.

“It feels absolutely amazing that we won last night. I’m so proud of all the boys and that we were finally able to win the Oceania Final," Simon ‘Swiffer’ Papamarkos said. "I’ve been looking forward to a moment like this and getting the opportunity to travel to the International Wild Card since I joined the team in 2013. Now that has become a reality."

The OPL Finals broadcast was the top trending Twitch stream in Australia last night. The channel peaked at over 9,000 concurrent viewers.

The OPL launched in February this year. It is Australia and New Zealand's first professional eSports league. Eight teams have been competing for a share of AU$64,000, with each player in each team receiving a AU$100 match fee.
