From Software has announced that Dark Souls II will receive three pieces of episodic downloadable content, called the Lost Crown Trilogy.

The trilogy sees players setting out to reclaim the three crowns once worn by Drangleic's King Vendrick. Each episode will be set in an all-new area, and feature a range of new enemy types and bosses.

The Crown of the Sunken King lands on July 23 for PC and Xbox 360, and the following day for PlayStation 3. Crown of the Sunken King takes adventurers to an underground cavern filled with stepped pyramids. The crown "holds the strength of lords from times long past". Publisher Namco Bandai claims this first episode is "one of the more difficult levels developed by From Software."

The Crown of the Old Iron King launches August 27 and 28. The crown is locked away in a "massive tower engulfed by black mist, where flames, smoke and sorcery lurk". Heroes must "navigate paths that are not what they appear to be."

The Crown of the Ivory King arrived on September 23 and 24. The final crown is hidden in an "ancient temple wrung with freezing storms, towering walls and a hollowing emptiness". Visibility will be limited, and enemies here will specialise in freezing abilities, says Namco.
