Free-to-play MMO Neverwinter has gone into open beta.

Based on Dungeons and Dragons, Neverwinter will see players rebuild the city of Neverwinter, saving it from the evil forces of Valindra Shadowmantle.

The open beta provides full access to all of Neverwinter’s features, including the content creation system, Foundry. Using Foundry, players can create and publish their own self-generated adventures directly into the game world.

Coinciding with is new phase is the launch of the Neverwinter Gateway, a web portal that allows players to remotely access game features on desktops, tablets, and phones. Using the Gateway, players can craft, view characters, buy and sell on the auction house, monitor guild activity and daily events, says Cryptic.

“After four successful Beta Weekends and many months of internal Alpha tests, we are thrilled to be in Open Beta," said Cryptic’s COO, Craig Zinkievich. “I'd like to thank the Founders, Beta Weekend participants, Alpha testers, fans, and press for their feedback and continued support in making Neverwinter the best game we've ever launched.”
