Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion will be available from April 14, BioWare announced today.

The expansion increases the game’s level cap to 55, expanding skill trees and abilities in the process, and also gives players access to the planet Makeb, among other things.

On Makeb, players will encounter new enemies including mercenaries, droids, and animals – “the most ruthless enemies we’ve ever thrown at them,” according to senior designer Brian Audette.

“It’s like a huge summer blockbuster,” said lead writer Hall Hood of the Hutt-centric narrative.

“The choices that players are going to make are going to affect the larger conflict.”

Rise of the Hutt Cartel is US$19.99 (AU$19.10), or half that amount for subscribers.

Those who pre-ordered the expansion before January 7 will gain early access on April 9.
