Battlefield 3 developer DICE will announce a premium content service at this year’s E3, according to a source close to Battlefieldo.
The service, eerily similar to that of another blockbuster shooter whose name shall go unuttered, is said to land players – via content drops – a number of unique in-game items not available anywhere else.
These include a premium knife, black dog tags, and a set of soldier and weapon camouflage skins that will give players more personalisation options.
The rumour also details the release of a Battlefield player’s guide in June, “bonus content” for August, and an as-yet unannounced fifth DLC for the shooter, due March 2013.
DLC expansions Armored Kill and End Game have been slated for a Spring and Summer release respectively by DICE.
The date for DICE’s announcement regarding this content is given as June 4, the day of EA’s E3 press conference.
