Cyberpunk 2077 release pushed back

Cyberpunk 2077 release pushed back

CD Projekt Red as today announced that the eagerly awaited release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been has been pushed from April to September 17.

The studio posted about the delay on it's Twitter account, stating "We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there's still work to be done. Night City is massive - full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing."

It's unfortunate to see one of the year's biggest titles delayed, but I'll take a delay over an unpolished game any day. The studio has soaring player expectations to live up to with the upcoming first-person RPG, so here's hoping this is the last delay we see for what will surely be a phenomenal last hurrah for the current-gen.

BioShock: The Collection rated for Nintendo Switch

A new filing from the Taiwanese ratings board indicates that a BioShock collection could be on its way to the Nintendo Switch.

First spotted by Loot Pots, the Switch ratings filed are for BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered, and BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition, as well as a collection comprised of all three titles.

There's been no official announcement by 2K Games, but given the publisher just opened a new studio and tasked it with developing the next in the franchise... a Switch port is a pretty safe bet.

Doom Eternal's latest trailer is full of demonic carnage

The latest trailer for Doom Eternal is packed full of guns, demons, and metal music – but also shows off some new gameplay mechanics.

While we've previously seen shiny new additions like the Doom Slayer's grappling ability and a wicked sword, it looks like we'll be able to rain down airstrikes and set up blast shields as well.

2016's Doom was a breath of fresh air in the franchise, bringing back the frenetic pace and over-the-top gore that left many anticipating its follow up.

Two of Square Enix's biggest upcoming games, Final Fantasy VII: Remake and Marvel's Avengers have been delayed.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake will now release on April 10, 2020 while Marvel's Avengers has been pushed to September 4. The two games were originally slated to release on March 3 and May 15 respectively.

"We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on," said producer Yoshinori Kitase.

"In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020."

FFVII Remake's release represents only a part of the original game, which is set purely in the city of Midgard. There has been no mention of when the remake's second episode will be released.

Sony to skip E3 for the second year in a row

Sony has confirmed it will not be attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo again this year.

Last year's lack of attendance was explained as the company wanting to explore "new ways to engage with fans," although many thought PlayStation would return to share details on the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5.

"After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020," a spokesperson told Games Industry.

While the Series X is set to release by the end of this year, Microsoft won't be showing its predecessor the door just yet.
