While The Witcher is yet to debut on Netflix, the streaming service has already renewed the series for a second season.
"I’m so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri," said showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
"I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us."
Season 2 will contain eight episodes, with production starting in early 2020, with a planned release in 2021.
While The Witcher franchise is widely known from the games created by CD Projekt Red, the series will instead be inspired by the original novels from Andrzej Sapkowski.
Hissrich has noted that the series will lean into the horror themes of the supernatural, while still setting the show in a fantasy universe.
Season 1 of The Witcher releases December 20 on Netflix.
