Sony's flagship console has broken the 100 million unit mark... in units shipped at least.
The report comes from the company's latest earnings figures, which noted that the PS4 has shipped more than 100 million units to retailers – but hasn't quite reached that milestone in units sold to customers.
However, given the console's momentum, it's likely to reach that figure shortly and is expected to overtake the lifetime sales of the Nintendo Wii (101 million units) and the original PlayStation (102 million units) by the end of this year.
It's likely that the PS4's momentum will take a hit due to the recently announced next-gen console, which is expected to release next year.
That being said, Sony still has a number of first-party titles on the way to the PlayStation 4, including Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, and the highly anticipated The Last of Us Part II.
