With Doom Eternal about four months away, there were several exciting tidbits of info revealed at this year's QuakeCon.
During the Doom Eternal panel, creative director Hugo Martin was joined on stage by executive producer Marty Stratton where the two answered some fan questions. A fan and member of the Slayers Club (the official Doom fan club) quizzed the pair about what exactly the Doomguy does in his spare time. Does he lift weights and chug protein shakes between turning demons into sloppy piles of giblets?
Martin responded "He's ripping and tearing demons apart all the time, so...", implying that our favourite demon slayer maintains his physique solely through the practice of lifting guns and demon limbs instead of weights. Martin continued "It's funny, we had a discussion about that. Does he lift? I'm like, I don't... he's not, like, a bro. You know? I don't think he drinks protein."
After a bit of entertaining discussion, Stratton whispered to Martin "Should we talk about the hub? Maybe?"
Martin further stated "You'll see kind of, like, where he hangs out," and continued "Again, if you care. You'll see how he spends his free time, and you'll learn a lot about him through the game, if you look for it and pay attention."
Doomguy has always been more of a pilot for the action as opposed to a fully-fleshed out protagonist, so I'm excited to see what id Software has in store for fans when Doom Eternal releases on November 22.
