Laeta Kalogridis, the showrunner for Netflix's Altered Carbon is writing the script for a Knights of the Old Republic film, according to Buzzfeed.

The report noted that Kalogridis was close to finishing the first script, which will be part of a potential KOTOR trilogy.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy hinted at a potential KOTOR project during Star Wars Celebration this year, although it was unclear what stage of development this was in, or what medium it was for.

Fans had also been speculating whether Game of Thrones' David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would be heading up something Old Republic related, as it's known their Star Wars project is unrelated to the Skywalker saga.

BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic released in 2003, with a sequel from Obsidian releasing the following year. Since then, the series has been continued through the MMO RPG aptly titled, The Old Republic.

Here's hoping the film will draw from the original game, as I'm sure we'd all love to see Revan, Darth Malak, and Bastila Shan on the big screen.
