Red Dead Redemption 2 will be fully playable in first-person and features a battle royale mode, according to a new leak.
Last August, Trusted Reviews received what it believes are development notes from the game, but has only now revealed their contents after they began to match up with marketing materials for Rockstar's highly anticipated open world title.
The biggest assertion from the notes is that the game's online component will feature at least three online multiplayer modes: Battle Royale, Revive and Survive (which sounds like team deathmatch), and Money Grab (which sounds similar to good ol' fashioned capture the flag).
Below is a brief rundown of the main points from the notes, interspersed with new screens from Rockstar. For more detail, head over to Trusted Reviews.
◆ The game's online world features far more depth than its counterpart in GTA V. For example, NPCs will decorate storefronts, then pack things away once night comes
◆ Tents can be owned and upgraded by players, and function like apartments from GTA Online
◆ A companion app (remember those?) will launch alongside the game, and include social elements and a poker-style mini-game
◆ You will be able to go gold-mining, fishing, herding, and more
◆ A Slums Market will allow you to buy equipment at reduced prices
◆ Vehicles include mine carts, handcarts, and horse-drawn carriages, the latter of which come in different variants such as armoured and fast
◆ You can ride railway trains across the world. They are fully explorable with unique inhabitants and dialogue
◆ RDR's Dead Eye ability has been enhanced, and now allows you to track bounties through fields and detect nearby fish and animals
◆ Some missions will feature different outcomes depending on how you behave while undertaking them
◆ An enemy injured in a certain way or taken off horseback can be interrogated or convinced to pay you for sparing their life
In related news, Red Dead Redemption 2's release date is now October 26.
"We apologise to everyone disappointed by this delay," said Rockstar.
"While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish. We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it."
The game was previously pegged for release in spring 2017 and then autumn 2018.
