Ubisoft’s always-on DRM server Uplay went down overnight, provoking users to lash out at the service.
The service crashed in prime gaming time, preventing games with an always-on DRM restriction from being played.
Ubisoft has apologised for the outage, and cited an influx of players due to the current Steam sale as the likely culprit.
This was too little too late for many Uplay users.
“Ubisoft, if you are going to be twats and treat your paying customers like the criminals (who get to avoid your crap by pirating to begin with), here is a tip,” read a typical forum post regarding the outage.
“If you are going to have always on DRM, make sure your DRM is always f**king on.”
