Players may soon be able to earn Microsoft Points simply by accumulating Xbox 360 Achievements, or so a recent tweet from the Xbox Live Rewards team seems to imply.

The tweet reads:

"Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"

No further details were offered.

The Xbox Live Rewards programme hands out small amounts Microsoft Points for activities such as taking surveys, referring others to Gold, or subscribing to Xbox Live.

Given that dropping around AUD$80 to renew an Xbox Live Gold Subscription rewards players with a paltry 200 Microsoft Points, it seems unlikely that gamers will be showered in credit for obtaining The Simpson's "you started the game!" achievement, for example.
