Pictures of the newest version of the Wii U controller have been tweeted by a Traveller’s Tales employee.

The posts, made under the Twitter handle @MATTYBOOSH, have since been deleted.

The biggest change appears to be that analogue sticks have replaced the circle pad nubs seen on the device at last year’s E3.

The ‘start’ and ‘select’ buttons have moved from the bottom of the tablet controller to the right hand side, and now reside just under the face buttons.

There are two new unlabelled square-shaped buttons, both of which sit flush with the chassis of the unit.

The Wii U branding on the left hand side also suggests that recent rumours of a name change may have been unfounded.

More details regarding the Wii U are expected to emerge at next month’s E3 conference.

Gameplanet will be providing up-to-the-minute updates of E3 happenings via our website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
