E3 2020 could be a festival for media & influencers

Next year's E3 could be a very different event if a leaked proposal is adopted by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).

As reported by GameDaily, the gaming expo could be shifting to a "fan, media and influencer festival" for 2020.

The changes come as part of feedback from industry publishers that want to lean harder into influencers and paid celebrity deals, and would work with talent agencies such as United Talent (UTA) and Creative Artists (CAA).

The event would feature a number of "experiences," with an example painting the picture of the LA Lakers playing a basketball video game against fans or actors.

The MediEvil remake has now gone gold

The MediEvil remake has now gone gold

Other Ocean Interactive, the studio behind the upcoming MediEvil remake has announced that the game has gone gold. With the final launch build being complete, the game will now go on to manufacturing for its physical release on October 25 for the PlayStation 4.

The eagerly anticipated remake is a ground-up reworking of the original that came out over twenty years ago. We've seen a few big remakes lately, but this one holds a particularly special place in my heart. I was a massive fan of Sir Daniel Fortesque's adventure as a kid so I can't wait to see what improvements Other Ocean Interactive has made.

Final Fantasy VII Remake to feature 'classic' battle mode

Final Fantasy VII Remake to feature 'classic' battle mode

Square Enix has tweaked a few mechanics while remaking Final Fantasy VII, but that doesn't mean fans of the original can't still enjoy that classic experience.

The developer has noted that a 'classic mode' will be available in the remake that will make combat the same as the original title.

Previous gameplay shown at the Square Enix E3 2019 Showcase revealed that players could fill their ATB bars by attacking enemies like many modern action titles.

Those playing in Classic Mode would have that aspect of combat handled for them automatically, as it was in the original Final Fantasy VII.

The Classic Mode reveal was part of Square Enix's play through at Tokyo Game Show, and was just one of many new details shared by the developer.

Control update fixes major performance issues

Control update fixes major performance issues

Remedy's Control released to positive reception among both players and critics alike, with our reviewer Baz stating that "Control is a mesmerising dive into the warped world of the supernatural that sets a new high bar for world design alongside its bizarre, yet compelling story, and power fantasy combat."

Despite receiving high scores, the game previously suffered from terrible performance issues across all platforms. Thankfully, Remedy is now rolling out a significant update which should see some much-needed stability fixes to the slideshow-like framerate. The update is out now on PlayStation 4 and is coming soon to the Xbox One and PC versions.

In a blog post on Remedys website, the studio states that they have "improved general frame-rate performance through optimisations made to multiple systems and content" and have also added the ability for players to toggle the games motion blur and film grain effects on and off
