Nintendo show off a bunch of indie games

Nintendo show off a bunch of indie games

Nintendo have released a new video throwing the spotlight on some great looking indie games for the Switch.

There's a fair bit to unpack in the video. Along with games we've already seen on other consoles and PC, there are several that have somehow flown under my radar. The Gardens Between is a gorgeous time-bending puzzler releasing in September. Children of Morta came out of nowhere and is a day one purchase for me.

The insane body morphing shooter, Morphies Law and Prison Architect got a surprise release and are available right now on the eShop. I really like the look of Bad North but it appears to only be out in some regions.

We got another look at Monlighter , which is already out on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. I've been desperately waiting to play this one on my Switch and this new clip (without a confirmed release date) doesn't make the wait any easier. Everspace is making its way to the Switch and looks excellent. a Windjammers sequel was also teased. I still can't wrap my head around what the hell is going on in Baba is You. If anyone figures it out, please let me know.

343 Industries: Halo Infinite is definitely Halo 6

Halo fans can rest assured; Halo Infinite will not be a prequel or spinoff, despite its title lacking a definitive number.

343 lead writer Jeff Easterling addressed the question during a recent 343 Social Stream on Mixer (at the 1:22:20 mark).

"It is Halo 6. You should just consider it Halo 6," said Easterling. "Don't think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It's the next story. It's the next chapter in what is going on."

Fox21 picks up the rights for a Vampyr TV Show

Fox21 picks up the rights for a Vampyr TV Show

Fox21 has secured the rights to develop a TV series based on DONTNOD Entertainment's recent blood sucking RPG, Vampyr. Wonderland Sound & Vision and DJ2 Entertainment are set to handle the television adaptation.

The production companies in question have helped create some amazing TV shows already like Sons of Anarchy, The Chi and The Americans, so the Vampyr franchise looks to be in good hands.

DONTNOD CEO Oskar Guilbert stated “we believe it is a fantastic premise for a television show. This is a new and exciting way for fans of the game, as well as the uninitiated, to enter and engage with VAMPYR’S rich, deep story. We cannot wait to see how the talented team at FOX21 will bring out the darkly atmospheric universe of our game into television.”

When Vampyr release back in June, we enjoyed it and thought it "took a few risks, and travels a darker, less explored path. It may stumble in the dark a little, and some of the rougher edges can snag and pull you off the path from time to time, but the journey is exciting, fresh, and always interesting". The game has a fascinating story and setting that could translate very well to television if handled right.

Video game adaptations almost always seem to have a plethora of issues getting in to full production mode, so we may never see a Vampyr TV show make it past the early stages.

The Battle for Azeroth is live... for some

Blizzard has officially released World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth, although some players are having a hard time logging in to the new expansion. It's most likely just a sever issue as masses of fans try and dive in to the new content.

Blizzard has confirmed one of the issues on Twitter, stating "We're currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts". It's unclear at this stage how fast a fix will be distributed but Blizzard will no doubt be putting all of their effort in to stabilizing the problem as fast as possible.

Bethesda isn't done in the fight for console cross-play

Bethesda are back fighting the good fight for cross-play on console, with Elder Scrolls: Legends becoming the latest title to raise the issue.

In an interview with Game Informer, Bethesda's senior VP of global marketing Pete Hines drew a line in the sand when discussing the studio's card battle game.

"[The Elder Scrolls Legends] is a strategy card game that encompasses both single and multiplayer. It is both cross-platform play and cross-platform progress.

"It is our intention in order for the game to come out, it has to be those things on any system. We cannot have a game that works one way across everywhere else except for on this one thing."

Elder Scrolls: Legends has already released to mobile and PC, with a console release on the horizon.
