New Days Gone footage debuts the Farewell Wilderness

The latest footage from Sony Bend's upcoming Days Gone offers new insight to the environments and areas in which players will be fighting to survive.

Days Gone creative director John Garvin described a dynamic world, with "landscapes that change quickly and dramatically, a living, breathing world — filled with things trying to kill you."

'The Farewell Wilderness' feature is the first in three videos set to reveal more insight into the studios upcoming zombie

It's still hard to shake the Last of Us vibes that Sony Bend has been up against since the game's announcement, but Farewell Wilderness does offer some great points of difference. On top of what looks like some great vehicle exploration, there's what seems like a never-ending horde of zombies that is sure to offer a unique form of combat and gameplay.

EA Vancouver ceases work on open-world Star Wars title

It appears EA has halted work on its open-world Star Wars game in favour of a smaller project that would release sooner.

As originally reported by Kotaku, multiple sources inside the studio have claimed the publisher has shifted focus in order to aim for a 2020 release date.

EA's rather coy response to the article reads: "There’s been speculation overnight about one of our Star Wars projects. As a natural part of the creative process, the great work by our team in Vancouver continues and will evolve into future Star Wars content and games."

Hitman developers IO Interactive open new studio

Hitman developers IO Interactive open new studio

It would seem that Hitman 2 has been both a critical and commercial success for IO Interactive as the developer today announced that it has opened a new studio in Malmö, Sweden.

IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak stated that "the new studio will strengthen IO Interactive’s commitment to deliver exceptional content to the HITMAN franchise, community and all our fans. Furthermore, this will expand our muscles for creating brand-new and exciting endeavours, new universes, new franchises. In other words, IOI Malmö and Copenhagen are one family”.

IOI, while well-known for the Hitman series, was also responsible for Kane & Lynch and one of my personal favourites Freedom Fighters so I'm personally hoping we see a sequel to one of these on top of any new IP's the studio is planning.

All of Anthem's activities will offer matchmaking

All of Anthem's activities will offer matchmaking

In answering a fan on Twitter, Anthem producer Ben Irving has confirmed the amount of matchmaking in the game – and it's extensive.

Matchmaking in "every activity" would mean players can team-up for everything from Strongholds and missions, to events, and free-play.

BioWare has previously confirmed that "most" of the game can be soloable, while Strongholds require four players.

Having matchmaking confirmed for this element of Anthem helps set it apart from others in the genre, which have offered limited matchmaking – if any at all – for endgame content.

Of course, one element that won't include matchmaking is Anthem Player vs. Player, since there won't be any PVP at launch.
