Gameplanet has been providing Australia and New Zealand gamers with balanced and critical gaming news, reviews and previews for more than a decade.
The information we provide helps our readers to make decisions about the games they want to play, decisions that have a real-world cost attached. To that end, our readers rightly expect us to provide them with unbiased and reliable information and opinions.
We take that covenant very seriously. Above all, we trade on our professional integrity, without which we would not be able to survive.
We have worked hard over many years to build a trusting relationship with our community and readers, and we will never compromise our impartiality in order to inflate traffic to our site or make a quick buck.
Gameplanet operates entirely on revenue generated from advertisements on our web site. Doing so allows us to provide content to our readers free of charge. While many of our advertising partners are game developers, publishers and distributors seeking to reach our site's audience, Gameplanet has not and will never accept advertising on the condition that a related product receives favourable editorial on our site.
Gameplanet is a completely independent publication.
Gameplanet works with developers, publishers and distributors to provide our readers with information and previews prior to a game's release. We are not beholden to any developer, publisher or distributor to provide favourable editorial in such content. Gameplanet will always clearly disclose instances where the expenses it has incurred producing content have been paid for in part or in full by a third party. This might include, but is not limited to, travel and accommodation.
Gameplanet accepts promotional copies of games supplied by publishers for the purpose of producing reviews.
Reviews on Gameplanet have a score attached. The score provides a quick reference as to how the game stacks up against similar games.
Gameplanet uses a half-point scale from 0.5 to 10.
Scores are defined as follows:
10 Best Available
8 Very Good
2 Very Bad
Gameplanet's review scores are weighed against other games on the same platform in the same genre at the time of the game's release. Scores are not compatible across platforms, genres or years.
Review scores should be taken as a rough guide only; our opinion is always explained in detail in the body of the review.
