Game announcements have been thin on the ground from the Ouya team, but the company stated today that it will be partnering with Japanese publisher Namco Bandai.

"Namco Bandai Games and Ouya are currently in active discussions to bring some of the world's biggest gaming properties to the exciting new open gaming platform,” said Namco Bandai marketing VP Carlson Choi.

“We’re excited to explore how we can work with Ouya to bring some great titles to the forthcoming console.”

Ouya backers have been encouraged to visit the Facebook pages of the Ouya or Namco Bandai to let the developers know which games they would like to see on the system.

In the same post on its Kickstarter page, Ouya divulged that its namesake console would work with up to four controllers, and that multimedia interface Plex would also be supported.

This follows recent news that the Ouya would feature an integrated version of XBMC.

With fewer than eight hours remaining in its record-breaking crowdfunding venture, the Ouya has raised US$8,041,057 (AU$7,607,492) from 59,468 backers.

“We’ve got aggressive goals and we’re going to deliver,” said Ouya founder Julie Uhrman.

“We’ll continue to push for the best content and coolest features we can bring to our little magic box. You’ve taken our dreams and made them your own, and together we will make them real.”
