The Mechwarrior Online open beta that was to kick off today has been delayed due to stability issues.

“We have decided to push Open Beta back," wrote lead designer Paul Inouye on the game’s official forum.

"We agree that the game’s current state of stability is not allowing us to get the latest experience across to new and veteran players alike.”

“This is a short push back on the date and will depend on the stability and playability of the build.”

The main issue appeared to be lag, which was completely locking the game up in some instances.

Matchmaking and game balance tweaks were also underway, said Inouye.

The free-to-play title is expected to launch later this year.
