Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom won’t be out in November as expected, game director Akihiro Hino announced today.

Instead, the JRPG sequel is now scheduled to launch for PlayStation 4 and PC on January 19, 2018.

"We have decided that more development time is required in order to deliver the full Ni no Kuni II experience to our fans," said Hino.

"I deeply apologise to whose who have been looking forward to the game's release."

Hino also cleared up confusion around the game's multiplayer: there isn't any.

"During a recent E3 interview session, I may have caused a misunderstanding with my comments regarding Ni no Kuni II's multiplayer content," Hino said.

"I misunderstood the interview question, thinking it was asking about online content in general and my answer referred to online announcements of in-game events. As a result of this, I wrongly gave the impression that the game features multiplayer content."
