Social gaming giant Zynga has pink-slipped more than 100 staff from its Austin office and closed its Boston office completely, according to numerous tweets from former employees.

An undisclosed number of staff have been laid off at the company’s Chicago offices as well.

As a result, The Ville and an unannounced title have been axed, and it is rumoured that Zynga Bingo is also on the chopping block.

Affected employees were given a little over an hour to turn in their work phones, computers, and access cards before being ushered out of each studio.

The news comes a day before Zynga is due to announce its third quarter earnings results, which are projected to be a disappointment.

According to research firm Superdata, Zynga’s monthly active user numbers are down to 147.8 million from 162.4 million two years ago.
