October 31 will be the first day people in the United Kingdom will be able to launch their projects on Kickstarter, the company has announced.
UK-based projects will be listed alongside all the other Kickstarter projects, but listed in pounds sterling with an approximate US dollar conversion displayed alongside.
All mechanics for funding, rewards, and so forth will remain identical, except that pledges for UK projects will be processed through a company other than Amazon.
Payment processing fees for UK projects are on par with those for US projects:
5% + £0.05 charged to pledges less than £10
3% + £0.20 charged to pledges of £10 or greater
Kickstarter’s UK expansion was announced in July. The service has been available in the US for about four years.
