Electronic Arts has acquired web and mobile app developer ESN.
The Sweden-based company’s Battlelog app allows players to access Battlefield features such as voice chat, matchmaking, forums, statistics, leaderboards, and more on their PCs or mobile devices.
There has been a marked rise in the number of mobile app tie-ins for major game releases, including similar services for Call of Duty and Ghost Recon, and well as the upcoming Medal of Honor.
According to ESN, it will now focus all of its energy on Battlefield, Battlelog, and projects with DICE.
The 20-strong studio is looking to hire more developers and designers following its purchase.
