Those hoping to work at Irrational had better have at least one game on their resume that rates above an 84 on Metacritic,
according to a recent job posting.
The advert for a design manager – since altered – was seeking applicants whose experience included "Credit on at least one game with an 85+ Average Meta Critic Review Score".
Other requirements included six or more years as a game designer, as well as involvement from the pre-production stage to shipping on at least three games.
Controversially, Metacritic scores have been used as a metric to determine whether game designers receive bonuses or whether new games are greenlit, but this is the first instance of its scores explicitly influencing a hiring decision.
Irrational Games is currently working on the much-anticipated Bioshock Infinite.
